Trust Paradox

Trust Paradox

Saturday in yoga class, my teacher asked us a simple question about trust.

And before I could even think, an old familiar thought surfaced: I don't trust myself.

I sat with it for a moment. Is that even true?!

Because if that were true... would I have moved across the country? Quit a high paying corporate career? Traveled the world alone? Started my own business from scratch?

Every single one of those decisions required an enormous amount of trust. Especially in myself.

So where did that thought even come from? It's been in my head a long time.

Here's what I realized: the moment I thought "I don't trust myself," I was actually trusting something. I was trusting that belief.

And that's the paradox.

You are always trusting in something. The question isn't whether you trust. It's what you've decided to place your trust in.

The work isn't learning how to trust yourself, life, other people, or the process. You already know how to trust. The work is redirecting that trust toward something that actually serves you.

What are you trusting in today?
